Project Overview
Public Realm project to the existing Dublin Port Company Building which softens the boundary between it and the city. Works involved the refurbishment of the podium at the Port entrance which features a new sculptural sphere, made from stainless steel. A historic 1960s dockyard crane, a feature of Dublin’s industrial heritage, was restored and relocated at the corner of East Wall Road.
The project also included construction of a landscaped “maritime” garden, a new car park linked to the main building with a 33m long steel footbridge, large bespoke automated gates, and turnstiles and a 5m high perforated steel wall. Many of the structures were formed from weathering COR-TEN steel, the same material used in shipping containers.
