Project Overview
- The A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing to Ballinluig project will upgrade 7.6km of single carriageway to dual carriageway between north of the Tay Crossing to the existing dual carriageway section at Ballinluig.
- Upon Completion of the A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing to Ballinluig project, there will be approximately 14km (9 miles) of continuous dual carriageway between north of the Tay Crossing to Pitlochry.
- The A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing to Ballinluig project is the fourth section of the Scottish Government’s A9 Dualling Programme to commence construction.
- The A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing to Ballinluig project will improve road safety, journey times and reliability. In addition, it will generate economic growth, supporting businesses, communities and tourism throughout Scotland by improving access to and from the Highlands and Islands.
Key Numbers
- The design and construction of 7.6km of new dual carriageway, an interim roundabout, new side roads and access roads/tracks.
- Construction of 7 new left-in / left-out junctions.
- Diversionary works for Statutory Undertakers and the like.
- Environmental and landscaping mitigation measures to limit any impact on the surrounding environment as described in the Environmental Statement.
- Construction of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) including 3 no. retention ponds, 1 detention basin, 1 no. wetland, 3 no. swales and attenuation tanks.
- Construction of a new overbridge at the proposed Guay South Junction.
- Replacement of Kindallachan Burn Bridge.
- The extension, replacement and addition of 36 culverts.
- Provision of retaining walls, including an erosion protection wall.
- Stopping up of existing direct accesses and provide alternative provision.
- New/upgraded Non-Motorised User (NMU) facilities.
