Overview:

The Social Value Coordinator Apprentice will support the delivery of social value and commitments on a live civil engineering project.

The role will provide hands-on experience across community engagement, employability, education, sustainability initiatives and reporting, while developing practical skills and working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.  Co-ordination of site wellbeing activities will also form part of the role. This is a site-based role designed to give real exposure to how social value is planned, delivered and evidenced within a major infrastructure project. Full Time Monday to Friday (some flexibility may be required, due to the nature of the position).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support engagement with local communities, residents, schools and stakeholders.
  • Assist with organising and attending community events, site visits, careers events and “meet the contractor” events.
  • Help prepare communications such as newsletters, social media content, noticeboards and project updates.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for the project and contractor within the local community.
  • Support delivery of STEM engagement activities with schools, colleges and training providers.
  • Assist with work experience placements, apprenticeships, site visits and careers talks.
  • Help track employment outcomes such as apprenticeships, placements and local employment.
  • Support delivery of agreed social value commitments aligned to client requirements.
  • Assist with coordinating volunteering activities, donations and community initiatives.
  • Help gather evidence of Good Practice (photos, attendance lists, feedback) to demonstrate impact.
  • Support environmental and wellbeing initiatives linked to the project.

Requirements:

  • A genuine interest in social value, community engagement or construction.
  • A willingness to learn and get involved on a live construction site.
  • Good communication skills and confidence speaking to different audiences.
  • Organised, reliable and able to manage tasks with support.
  • Basic IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, social media).
  • A positive, proactive attitude.

Social Value Delivery:

  • Support delivery of agreed social value commitments aligned to client requirements.
  • Assist with coordinating volunteering activities, donations and community initiatives.
  • Help gather evidence of Good Practice (photos, attendance lists, feedback) to demonstrate impact.
  • Support environmental and wellbeing initiatives linked to the project.
  • Monitoring, Reporting & Administration.
  • Help collect data for social value reporting (e.g. hours volunteered, people engaged, outcomes achieved).
  • Maintain logs, trackers and evidence folders.
  • Support preparation of reports for internal teams and clients.
  • Ensure activities are delivered in line with project policies and procedures.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance.
  • Follow all site health, safety and wellbeing requirements.
  • Attend inductions and training relevant to the role.
  • Always represent the company professionally and responsibly.

(Non-essential) Preferred Requirements:

  • An interest in construction, engineering, community development or communications.
  • Experience of volunteering, youth work, school projects or community activities.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English (and Maths desirable).
