We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Advisor to join our team for a large road scheme in Tipperary. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all personnel on-site, as well as compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations. This is a key role where you will work closely with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership to implement, monitor, and enhance safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures tailored to the marine construction environment.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits on-site, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure all projects comply with health and safety legislation, including relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to project managers, engineers, and site personnel on health and safety matters.
  • Deliver training and toolbox talks to ensure all staff and contractors are aware of health and safety protocols and best practices.
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation, regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and represent the company during health and safety inspections.
  • Maintain records of safety-related incidents, near misses, and safety training.
  • Prepare and present detailed health and safety reports to senior management.
  • Foster a positive health and safety culture within the project team and across the organisation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety within the construction or heavy civil engineering industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and construction regulations.
  • Proven track record of managing health and safety on large-scale construction projects.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record in incident investigation and report writing.
  • Proficient in the use of health and safety management software and tools.
