Project Overview
This Project comprises of a standalone, two storey Hyperscale Data Centre situated in North Holland. Wills Bros Limited undertook the external civils package including utility installations and reinforced concrete works.
Key Numbers
Existing/installed live Services also made excavation challenging and a Vac Truck was mobilised and used for some of the excavations to install/connect to Services.
Concrete works mainly consisted of casting Generator Bases, CAHU Slabs and Walls. Construction of external reinforced concrete yards to the Data Centre building included:
- Extension of existing piles for connection into external slab, assume an extension required of 400-500mm
- Cutting of existing concrete piles (400x400mm2), excavation, trench support including any temporary design to formation level
- After the piles were trimmed to level, Services were installed and the area under the Slab was backfilled and compacted. The surface was blinded for a working platform to fix the reinforcement for the Slab, install Formwork and cast concrete
- Total volume of structural concrete 4,100m3
The interfacing site activities required daily logistic Traffic Management Plans in order to mitigate delays to the works. A daily meeting for all Contractors was held in order plan for access to work areas for deliveries or to complete work activities. 3 no. site access/egress gates were controlled by Security and Traffic Marshals who also controlled traffic movement to ensure site safety amongst moving traffic.
The Services included, but were not limited to the following:
- Foul and Surface Water Drainage
- Blow Down Water Services
- Medium Voltage Infrastructure
- Telecoms
- Potable Water Service
- Non-Potable Water Services
- Light Voltage Infrastructure
These works included:
- Excavation, trench support including any temporary design, bedding, backfilling, compaction, reinstatement, dewatering, testing and commissioning.
- Installation of chambers and covers, including surface water storage chambers, installation of ducts, fittings, and cable draw rope, connection to existing duct, structures etc.
Chambers, manholes and similar small structures included all ironwork, steelwork and concrete benching.
