Celebrating Industrial Cadets Graduation
To mark the end of a twelve week Bronze Industrial Cadet school project delivered by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT), we recently attended the graduation of four S1/2 pupils from Calderglen High School in East Kilbride which took place at South Lanarkshire Council’s offices in Hamilton this week. The project, saw pupils immerse themselves in the world of digital engineering by planning and successfully building an innovative mobile mental health app with input from an Industry Mentor from the Wills Bros team.
The pupils were able to apply their team-working, creativity, problem-solving skills and technical knowledge to focus on building the mental health app ‘WEECARE’.
During the twelve week programme, we opened our doors to the participating students, hosting a company visit that provided a ‘shop window’ into the world of Civil Engineering. During the visit, the pupils had the opportunity to interact with staff from various departments to gain a greater understanding of the industry. The visit included presentations and Q&A sessions with members of the tender team, health and safety team, engineering team, and the community liaison team.
