Apprenticeships Week event at Calderglen High School in East Kilbride

After being invited by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd were pleased to attend the Apprenticeships Week event at Calderglen High School in East Kilbride on the 8th March. This event allowed us to engage with 120 pupils about the various and fulfilling career paths available in the construction and civil engineering industry.

During the sessions, pupils were able to receive Careers information and advice on apprenticeships from Leslie McNeil – Trainee Public Liaison Officer, Angela Newlands – Public Liaison Manager, and Ziyad Rasheed – Civil Engineer. Students were asked about their knowledge surrounding civil engineering and encouraged to ascertain the various other factors that a civil engineer must consider whilst doing their work, at which point Ziyad Rasheed was able to provide real world examples that he had faced during his career.

After the presentations, pupils and teachers were given the opportunity to ask questions and provided with an ICE Careers Guide, which we hope will inspire them to consider a career in the industry.
