B9006 Culloden Road Widening

The Works consist of improvements to the existing B9006 including widening of 450m of Culloden road from two to four lanes as well as the construction of two linked signalised junctions to the campus and Caulfield Road North.
The primary aspects of the works are:

3 acres of site clearance and on-site treatment of 2000m3 of Japanese Knotweed infested material to eradicate all roots in order for the material to be reincorporated into the works as fill. Importing and placing of 13000m3 of rock fill to widen the existing embankment.

A 200m diversion of a watercourse into a lined swale which incorporates a 825mm culvert under the existing Caulfield Road and a 450M lined surface water channel connecting to an existing water course. The lining system incorporates a Geo-synthetic clay liner and an erosion control mat.

Traffic Management:
Maintaining full traffic flow on one of the busiest commuter routes into Inverness City centre for the entire duration of the works.

Relocation of BT and Scottish telecom cables. A diversion of the adjacent water main. Erection of street lighting columns and traffic lights.
