Thomas Street | James Street Quality Bus Corridor

 

QBC Enhancement Scheme, requiring retrofit of approximately 1km of Bus Lanes, extension of existing Bus Lanes, general improvements to roads, footpaths and cycle paths, new and upgraded traffic signals and pedestrian crossings, road marking and street furniture enhancement. The works were carried out with the site boundary being delineated by 97 protected structures.

 The construction of the Works involved the following:
• Site clearance within proposed site, adjacent to live traffic;
• Provision of traffic management and diversions (including temporary pedestrian facilities) for carriageway reconstruction;
• Excavation and realignment of existing composite road pavement, adjacent to live traffic near existing service pipes, ducts and chambers.
• Excavation of road widening areas (for bus lane) near existing service pipes, ducts, chambers and cellars;
• Reconfiguration of junctions, adjacent to live traffic;
• Implementation of temporary pedestrian facilities;
• Provision of new surface drainage system to reconstructed carriageway, adjacent to live traffic;
• Pavement construction, adjacent to live traffic;
• Provision of signs and road markings;
• Relocation of public lighting; and
• Temporary support of utilities and services to accommodate construction works, adjacent to live traffic
